Backyard Beer Burgers
(originally made 6/8/2007)
Good moist burger! I have a square press, so I used that. Dice the onions small though, they don't break down much.
Backyard Beer Burgers - 6 Points
1 1/2 pounds 93% lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup beer
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cloves garlic -- finely chopped
6 whole wheat buns
Ketchup -- if desired
Pickles -- if desired
Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat.
In medium bowl, mix all ingredients except buns, ketchup and pickles.
Shape into 6 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
Cover and grill patties over medium heat 13-15 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center reads 160 degrees F and the patties are no longer pink in center.
Add buns, cut sides down, for the last 4 minutes of grilling or until toasted.
Serve burgers in buns with ketchup and pickles.
