Crockpot Applesauce
(originally made 9/13/2006)
We visited the orchard this weekend, and came home with a 1/2 bushel of macs. I found this recipe in the search, Jake LOVES applesauce and I like knowing everything that's in it! The house smells so good, and I couldn't even wait for it to cool enough to try some and burnt my tongue :)
Thanks to Shannon for sharing this one, will be a family favorite from now on! I used Macs, and used real NH maple syrup. YUM! My only caution is, if you have a newer crockpot, watch the time, mine cooked in just about 5 hours on low. :)
Jolene
Applesauce
8 large granny smith apples*
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup water
1 squirt of maple syrup (optional)
Peel and seed the apples. Cut them into 4 large chucks. Mix everything together and put it into the crockpot for 6-8 hours on low. Mash it with a potato masher and enjoy. Its that easy!!!! Yummy
